Christmas Thoughts

with 4 comments

Because of the Christmas season I’ve been thinking about the birth of Jesus and how awesome it is that God made himself a servant and came and experienced life as we do. I was reading a book a while back that was talking about the implications of Jesus being born of a virgin. The one that made an impression on me was that it shows that salvation can never come through human effort but must be the super natural work of God. God could have brought Jesus into the world any way He wanted but he chose to affirm the message of the Old Testament that salvation can only come through Him.
Isaiah 43:11 “I, even I, am the LORD, and besides Me there is no savior.”
Its in light of this that we can read Luke 2:11 and rejoice in the fact that our God came to us as a little baby to bring salvation to all men. “For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

  1. Awesome, Kristen. We were talking to a friend the other day and realizing that God could have “created” anything or anyone to place the sin of the world on and then allow the sacrifice to be executed that way. But that would have been selfish, in a sense. Instead, He came in the Flesh, took our sin on Himself and sacrificed Himself to satisfy the requirements. Wow! What love.

  2. Amen, it is the greatest gift. His humility is the ultimate example, he gave us HOPE, not the hope that we think of today (like I hope so) but (I know so). In my life humility was the deepest conviction, the turning point in my relationship with Christ Jesus. Yielding to the flesh or yielding to spirit, its our choice. Heather’s dad taught me the importance of the greatest commandment, Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. Each word requires surrendering and denying one’s self, admitting that we are nothing and God is everything. His sending of his Son (who was also willing) can only be understood by the Holy Spirit and his pointing to and conviction. Otherwise it is foolish to those who choose to live for themselves and those who are trying to find God through spiritual rituals and works. Jesus is King, he has given us life, we must receive the free gift, because if we try and work for it, its not a free gift then. Have a wonderful Christ centered Christmas. All the glory belongs to Christ.
