Levi is officially a toddler. He has been up to so much since I last wrote about him. His speech is continually improving. Within the last month he has picked up on how to use I, me, you, etc.. It amazes me that you don’t have to teach a kid these language development skills. He also finally calls me mom or mommy. Nate was watching a baseball game and he said dang, so for the rest of the evening Levi kept saying “dang mom”. Its little stuff like this that keeps me laughing through the day. We were also going to go play with Haley and Tanner so Levi’s saying was “I want to go see Tanny Baby”. He loves his cousins especially Riley and likes to talk about swimming and going to the beach with them. His imagination is growing as well having pretend conversations while playing. He can also have a coherent phone conversion now instead of just smiling huge. Levi loves to sing but when I catch him he gets embarrassed and won’t do it any more. Nate was watching a Bob Dylan concert the other day and when Bob played the harmonica Levi busted out his and started playing. We took him to see the movie Cars and he loved it. Almost everyday he tells me he wants to see it again. At home his favorite movie is Veggie Tales “Joan and the Water” (Jonah and the Whale) which I will elaborate on in another post. Baseball is his sport of choice. He pays attention much more closely than I ever thought. The reason I know this is because when he throws the ball he picks up his leg like the pitchers do and when he bats he takes a little step as well. It is really cute. I tried to get pictures but they were all blurry, I will try again soon. Levi is developing a sense of brotherly love as well. He is still in the parallel play stage but he will bring Conrad a toy and a toy for himself and sit down next to him and play. I can’t explain how that little act brings such joy to me. At night we usually pray with the boys before bed so Levi always makes sure that I don’t forget to pray for Conrad and occasionally he will come to Conrads crib with me and put his hand on him when we pray. O’yeah one last thing that I treasure is when he says to Nate “I want to hold mama”. How can a mom deny that.
Wow! So much happening! I remember when Riley used to say “hold you” when he wanted me to pick him up. Such sweet things to remember. Good job writing them down.

He’s changed so much just in the past few months- it seems like whenever I see him he has learned something new! I think it’s hilarious that he started calling me “Tittie” last week- very endearing. I’ll have to give him a hard time about that someday. What a cute little guy! :-)

Wow! Brings back some very touching memories and makes me so thankful for you (if I am allowed to be so sentimental) and Nate and the kind of parents you are. Your softness and committment towards your children will be what grows them up into stong loving adults themselves. Thanks for the narative, Levi and Conrad are awesome little human beings and we are truly blessed to be part of their lives. And contributors to the gene pool.

I just don’t get it. To each his (or should I way “her”) own.
I would rather have a robot. That way you could watch it learn all that stuff, but when you get tired of it you could just turn it off for a bit and put it in the closet. And it wouldn’t poop.

I think you need a trip to Oz.

He needs a trip to the maternity ward and a few slobbery kisses from an adoring 8 month old and a toddler racing to greet him when he gets home. Then he would know that you never really get “tired of them”. “Tired” maybe, but not of them.
Randy, remember, you used to tell us that you would rather not go to the beach, hike in the mountains, eat at a new restaurant, go play at Justin’s, etc. etc. etc. However, after we made you do it anyway, you went on and on about how great a time you had. I see a trend here. Now the poop thing, I can see your problem with that.

The poop thing with TRY and be combatted with some good latex gloves, Vicks ointment around the ol’ nostrils, and an apron. Oh yeah- having me be gone for 12 hour shifts and letting the kid poop in his diaper and smelling it MIGHT make him want to change it. And seeing the rash develop on our child’s little tooshie when he decides not to change it will probably make him feel really bad.

I will put the stinky kid outside, and I don’t care if it has a rash. I have had a rash on my bum for 12 years now, and I am ok.

The picture is so cute. I love his conductor outfit! So many milestones… cute, cute, cute.
I have read stories where dads have asked the neighbor to come change the kids diaper. Seems a bit extreme to me, but my hubbie likes to take care of his kid.
